Izzo ovens (Izzonapoletano) are electric pizza ovens handmade in Naples and recognised by the AVPN as equivalent to a wood-fired oven. The IZ range has four fixed-deck models: the IZ2 at €7,500 (2 pizzas Ø 33 cm), the IZ4 at €11,200 (4 pizzas), the IZ6 at €12,500 (6 pizzas) and the IZ9 at €14,500 (9 pizzas).
This page brings together the figures we are asked for most often before a quote: price, price per pizza slot, payback time, options, dimensions, power supply, consumption and the differences between the four models.

How much does an Izzo oven cost?
The IZ2 costs €7,500, the IZ4 €11,200, the IZ6 €12,500 and the IZ9 €14,500. The oven is delivered assembled, on its wheeled stand.
The price per pizza slot
Comparing list prices alone is misleading. The most useful indicator is the oven price divided by the number of pizzas it bakes at the same time:
- IZ2: €3,750 per slot;
- IZ4: €2,800 per slot;
- IZ6: about €2,080 per slot;
- IZ9: about €1,610 per slot.
The bigger the oven, the cheaper each slot. The most interesting step is between the IZ4 and the IZ6: the 2 extra slots cost only €1,300, or €650 per slot. Between the IZ6 and the IZ9, the 3 extra slots cost €2,000, about €670 per slot.
Options
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| Stand with retractable swivel wheels | included |
| Deck and crown in biscotto di Sorrento | included |
| Chimney (without flue pipe) | €180 |
| Custom engraving on the copper (20 characters max) | €390 |
| Custom colour (any RAL shade) | €650 |
Budget example: an IZ6 in your pizzeria's colours, with its name engraved on the copper, comes to €13,540.
The oven can also be ordered without a stand, to be built into masonry. In that case the front-mounted control is required: ask us for a quote.
Two things to know about the invoice. Businesses established in a European Union country other than Italy, with a valid intra-community VAT number, are not charged Italian VAT: no VAT to advance. Transport is quoted according to the delivery address.

How long does an Izzo oven take to pay for itself?
The calculation is simple: divide the price of the oven by the margin you make on each pizza.
With a margin of €5 per pizza and 80 pizzas per service, for a pizzeria open six days a week:
| IZ2 | IZ4 | IZ6 | IZ9 | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | €7,500 | €11,200 | €12,500 | €14,500 |
| Pizzas to sell to pay back the oven | 1,500 | 2,240 | 2,500 | 2,900 |
| Number of services | about 19 | 28 | about 31 | about 36 |
| Time | about 3 weeks | just under 5 weeks | about 5 weeks | about 6 weeks |
This example is deliberately simplified: it does not include options, transport or electricity. Above all, it shows that the price difference between two models is recovered quickly. The €1,300 between the IZ4 and the IZ6 represents 260 pizzas, a little over three services. Conversely, an oven that is too small loses sales every busy evening.
A truly Neapolitan electric oven?
Yes. The Izzo oven is recognised by the AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), which considers it equivalent in every respect to a wood-fired oven for baking Neapolitan pizza.
Three features make it suited to Neapolitan pizza:
- a working temperature of 440 to 460 °C with the mouth open, and over 485 °C at most: the pizza bakes in 60 seconds;
- a deck and crown in biscotto di Sorrento, 4 cm thick, the refractory brick of Neapolitan wood-fired ovens, shaped and dried by hand;
- nichrome heating elements covering the whole chamber, deck and crown alike, adjustable separately on 10 levels.
To understand what the recognition means, read AVPN Pizza Explained: Rules, Approved Ovens & Affiliation. And on the underlying question: Can You Make Authentic Neapolitan Pizza in an Electric Oven?
What power supply and what consumption?
The Izzo oven connects to 400 V. Maximum power is 8.5 kW for the IZ2, 11.7 kW for the IZ4, 13.2 kW for the IZ6 and 16.5 kW for the IZ9. This is the figure to give your electrician to check your contract and your distribution board.
This maximum power is mainly used while heating up. Once the oven is hot, it uses much less: average absorption is 4.8 kW for the IZ2, 7.8 kW for the IZ4, 8.5 kW for the IZ6 and 10.5 kW for the IZ9.
Actual consumption depends on the working temperature, the loading rhythm and the heating time.
Note that the IZ6 uses only 0.7 kW more than the IZ4 on average, for two more slots.
Insulation that saves on heating up
The oven takes a little over two hours to reach its working temperature. Its insulation then keeps the heat in: 10 hours after switching off, the chamber is still at 220 °C, and at 100 °C after 24 hours. The next day you do not start from a cold oven, which cuts heating time and energy.
Dimensions and installation
The Izzo oven is delivered assembled, on retractable swivel wheels: once in place, one person can move it. So check the access route to its location. Only the IZ2 is less than 90 cm wide (85 cm); the IZ4 and IZ6 are 110 cm wide, the IZ9 145 cm.
Once installed, allow for the following footprint (the value in brackets is added to the depth):
- IZ2: 85 x 96 (+29) cm, 164 cm high, 330 kg;
- IZ4: 110 x 103 (+30) cm, 176 cm high, 480 kg;
- IZ6: 110 x 135 (+30) cm, 176 cm high, 580 kg;
- IZ9: 145 x 151 (+30) cm, 194 cm high, 880 kg.
For the IZ9, also check that the floor can bear nearly 900 kg.
Indoors, the oven must be connected to an exhaust duct or placed under a hood, to remove odours, grease and cooking fumes. Extraction requirements depend on your premises and your country's regulations: have the installation approved by your installer before ordering.
Each oven undergoes about 12 hours of factory testing before shipping: it is ready to use as soon as it arrives.

IZ2, IZ4, IZ6 or IZ9: which one to choose?
Choose the IZ2 for small premises, as a complement to another oven, or for a menu where pizza is not the main dish. It is the only model under one metre wide and it needs 8.5 kW. For a pizzeria, 2 slots quickly limit output on busy evenings.
Choose the IZ4 if space is tight but pizza is at the heart of your menu. It is as wide as the IZ6, but 32 cm shallower.
Choose the IZ6 if you are opening a classic Neapolitan pizzeria: it offers the best balance of price, space and consumption, and 6 slots handle a busy service.
Choose the IZ9 if you have peak services, takeaway on top of the dining room, or plan to grow. It has the lowest price per slot in the range.

What about the Izzo Premium range?
To go beyond 9 pizzas, the Izzo Premium DUO has two chambers for 12 pizzas, at €21,000. The case for a two-chamber oven is explained in Izzo DUO Oven: Why Choose a Two-Chamber Pizza Oven? The Izzo Premium 6 Large, at €13,000, bakes 6 pizzas in a chamber 100 cm deep.
Izzo oven or Cuppone Alpha?
If you are hesitating between an IZ6 or an IZ9 and a rotating deck oven, compare with the Cuppone Alpha (formerly Giotto):
| IZ6 | Alpha AO110/1TSN | IZ9 | Alpha AO140/1TSN | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price | €12,500 | €13,500 | €14,500 | €15,000 |
| Capacity | 6 pizzas Ø 33 cm | 7 pizzas Ø 35 cm | 9 pizzas Ø 33 cm | 10 pizzas Ø 35 cm |
| Price per slot | about €2,080 | about €1,930 | about €1,610 | €1,500 |
| Deck | fixed | rotating | fixed | rotating |
The Izzo oven keeps the gesture of the wood-fired oven: the pizzaiolo turns the pizzas on a biscotto deck. The Alpha turns the deck itself: baking stays even without handling, which helps when several people take turns at the oven or when the pace picks up. For €500 more than the IZ9, the Alpha AO140/1TSN offers one more slot, for 35 cm pizzas.
The Alpha's figures are detailed in Cuppone Alpha (formerly Giotto): price, dimensions, power consumption and output and its payback time in Cuppone Alpha: how quickly does the oven pay for itself?

What is the difference between the IZ4 and the IZ6?
Capacity and depth. The IZ4 bakes 4 pizzas Ø 33 cm in a 75 x 77 cm chamber, the IZ6 bakes 6 in a 75 x 113 cm chamber. Both are 110 cm wide, but the IZ6 is 32 cm deeper. It costs €1,300 more and uses 0.7 kW more on average.
Is the Izzo oven suitable for Neapolitan pizza?
Yes. It is recognised by the AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana), which considers it equivalent to a wood-fired oven. It works between 440 and 460 °C with the mouth open, on a deck and under a crown of 4 cm biscotto di Sorrento: the pizza bakes in 60 seconds.
What power supply does an Izzo oven need?
It needs a 400 V supply. Maximum power is 8.5 kW for the IZ2, 11.7 kW for the IZ4, 13.2 kW for the IZ6 and 16.5 kW for the IZ9.
How much power does an Izzo oven consume?
Average absorption is 4.8 kW for the IZ2, 7.8 kW for the IZ4, 8.5 kW for the IZ6 and 10.5 kW for the IZ9. Over a 5-hour service, that is about 24, 39, 43 and 53 kWh. The insulation keeps the oven at 220 °C ten hours after switching off, which reduces the next day's heating.
What are the dimensions of Izzo ovens?
The IZ2 measures 85 x 96 (+29) x 164 cm and weighs 330 kg, the IZ4 110 x 103 (+30) x 176 cm and 480 kg, the IZ6 110 x 135 (+30) x 176 cm and 580 kg, and the IZ9 145 x 151 (+30) x 194 cm and 880 kg. The oven is delivered assembled: check the access route to its location.
How long does the Izzo oven take to heat up?
A little over two hours. Thanks to its insulation, the chamber is still at 220 °C ten hours after switching off and at 100 °C after 24 hours: the oven never starts again from cold.
Which Izzo oven should a pizzeria choose?
The IZ6 suits most Neapolitan pizzerias: it offers the best balance of price, space and consumption. The IZ4 suits tight spaces, the IZ9 pizzerias with peak services or takeaway. The IZ2 is rather a back-up oven.
